GPS Navigation for Davagh Forest

Oct
2

If you are heading to the Davagh Forest Trails for the first time, DavaghNav, an innovative GPS Activated Navigation App will help to guide you safely around the trails.

Rather than a 'turn by turn' navigation system, this app provides you with the name of the trail you are on and gives you warnings before junctions and technical trail features ahead.

The App also includes trail maps and essential tourist information.

Please download the App before arriving at Davagh Forest as there is limited phone signal on the trails. GPS must be enabled on your phone and you will need to wear an earpiece or switch your phone speaker on to use DavaghNav on the trails.

Developed by a team of pupils from Cookstown High School (GTracks) in association with Cookstown District Council, this app is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland.

The GTracks team has won a series of Awards for this project, including Eircom Junior Spiders - Best Mobile App, Sentinus NIYE award and Invest NI Award for the project with the most commercial potential.  This summer the team has been to Buckingham Palace with CoderDojo, and also to Telefonica London as finalists in the Duke of York Inspiring Digital Enterprise award.

This App is in initial release format and will be refined further over the coming months.

Visit your Apple or Android App Store to download DavaghNav today.
