For the second year running, the Rostrevor Mountain Bike Trails have topped Northern Ireland’s Annual Mountain Bike Awards List as voted for by you the public!!

These awards for 2014 were again hosted by MountainBikeNI.com in partnership with Chain Reaction Cycles and turned out to be the closest yet with only a handful of votes separating each category winner.

The Rostrevor Mountain Bike Trails clinched the prestigious ‘Trail Centre of the Year’ award for the second year in a row with East Coast Adventure receiving the award for Northern Ireland’s Favourite Trailhead Provider and Kilbroney Café taking the award for Best MTB-Friendly Café.

The Whistledown Hotel in Warrenpoint rounded off another successful year for local businesses in Rostrevor and Warrenpoint by accepting the award for Northern Ireland’s Favourite MTB-Friendly Serviced Accommodation Provider.

Davagh Forest’s Red Trail, Run Ragley Run, won the award for Northern Ireland’s Favourite Trail Section and The Shepherds Rest (Draperstown) picked up two accolades as Northern Ireland’s Favourite MTB-Friendly Non-Serviced Accommodation and Best Spot for an Apres-Ride Pint.

Finally the Davagh Enduro, organised by local mountain biker Michael Regan, rounded off a successful year for the Davagh Forest Trails by clinching the award for Best MTB Event of 2014.

Chris Armstrong from MountainBikeNI.com explains, "For both Rostrevor and Davagh Forest to pick up four awards each at these End of Year Awards is a massive public vote of confidence for the trails and fantastic recognition for the high standard of services offered by local businesses and tourism providers in each area."

Chris continues, "Electronic counter data shows us that the Castlewellan Mountain Bike Trails were Northern Ireland's most visited National Trail Centre last year so for Rostrevor and Davagh Forest to top this poll measuring rider opinions highlights the current strength and depth of mountain biking in Northern Ireland.  All three National Trail Centres and associated businesses should be very proud of their achievements in 2014."

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE 2014 AWARD WINNERS!

The MountainBikeNI.com End of Year Awards were organised by Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland in association with Chain Reaction Cycles, Cycling Ireland and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
