Outdoor Recreation NI (the organisation behind MountainBikeNI.com) would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete our short online survey on the design of proposed Mountain Bike Trails within Gortin Glen Forest Park – this online questionnaire is now closed.
Over 900 mountain bikers completed this survey which has provided invaluable rider focused feedback to further inform trail designers, Architrail, ensuring that the Trail Design for Gortin Glen Forest Park meets the needs and demands of riders.
So what next?
In partnership with Omagh District Council, Outdoor Recreation NI will arrange two public consultations in Gortin Village towards the end of April 2015 with one of these consultations focusing specifically on the potential development of mountain bike trails within Gortin Glen Forest Park. Architrail will be in attendance to outline their proposed Macro Design of the trail system.
More information on this public consultation will be made available on MountainBikeNI.com and the MountainBikeNI Facebook Page. We would encourage all interested mountain bikers to attend.
The Macro Design of the proposed mountain bike trails (due for completion by May 2015) is essentially the development of a concept plan i.e. agreeing trail corridors with land owners and land managers which will provide an indicatory cost for trails development.
This design will guide funding applications for capital trail build moving forward however it is currently difficult to estimate when such funding may become available.
MountainBikeNI.com would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support re: the development of world class mountain bike trails here in Northern Ireland.
