The Davagh Trailhead is the place to be this Bank Holiday Weekend with plenty to do for everyone from the hardcore mountain bikers to the family picnic. Even if you don’t fancy going out on the trails then call in and see the Outdoor Concepts Team for a coffee and what someone described as “the best brownies I have ever tasted!”

Bike hire is available at the trailhead with some of the best hire bikes available in Northern Ireland – why not try out one of the CUBE Hardtail 29ers and join the 26 vs 29 inch wheel debate? Or have a go on one of the full suspension CUBE bikes? The Kids Mountain Biking Club kicks off the weekend on Saturday morning. From 10am – 12 noon kids aged 7-12 can come along with their bike and helmet and enjoy being coached by fully qualified mountain bike leaders. There is no need to register beforehand – all you need to do is turn up on the day.

From 12.30 – 2pm there is a “Next Step” Clinic – looking primarily at simple obstacles on the trails. This class is for those riders who love being out on the trails but who get nervous when obstacles or steps appear in front of them. “With simple weight adjustments and the proper bike set-up a new found confidence can be gained on a course like this one that will take your riding to the next step,” says Neil Carleton, one of the Outdoor Concepts Coaching Team.

From 2.30-5.30pm there is our first Women Only Beginners afternoon. Gain new mountain biking skills in a testosterone free environment and meet up with other like-minded women.

Sunday starts with a Rock’n’Roll Clinic this time at Eagle Rock from 11.30-1pm followed by a another 2-3.30pm only this time at Boundary Rock. The last Rock’n’Roll Clinic at Boundary Rock proved very successful. “£15 for an hour and half coaching session is a fantastic price and can really develop your technical skills at one of the iconic rock sections at Davagh” says Craig McCullough from Outdoor Concepts. The meeting point for all courses is the main Davagh Trailhead car park.

The Outdoor Concepts Team will also be at the trailhead at Davagh on Bank Holiday Monday – call in and see the team for some tea, coffee, snacks, bike hire and some mountain biking craic! Make sure you check out the slackline to work on your core stability and have a go at the bike limbo.
